Tribeca Things to Do Nearby

Tribeca remains relatively obscure to visitors in New York City and is not on everyone’s must-see list. Many people are unaware of this beautiful neighborhood. When most people think of Tribeca, they immediately think of the Tribeca Film Festival. We’ll assist you in recommending locations to visit in our insider guide.

Things to Do in Tribeca

The Skybridge on Staple Street

The Staple Street Skybridge in Tribeca is unique in that it is placed on Jane Street, one of the city’s shortest streets at only two blocks in length. If you stand on Staple Street and gaze up, you’ll see this architectural feature connecting two buildings. These structures were part of the New York Hospital, which no longer exists.

The Mysterious Bookshop

58 Warren Street is home to one of Manhattan’s most eccentric bookstores. The Mysterious Bookshop specializes in crime fiction, thrillers, and horror.  The majority of their output is devoted to killings, blood, and investigations. It’s unique, exceptional and worthy.

Fire Station of the Ghostbusters

Tribeca is densely packed with renowned film locations, but few are as iconic or nostalgic—at least for those who grew up in the 1980s—as the firehouse from the 1984 film Ghostbusters. The exterior shots of the fictitious firehouse where Peter, Ray, Egon and Winston established their ghostbusting activities were shot in the 1903 Beaux-Arts tower that houses the real-life Hook & Ladder Company 8. Although the Ghostbusters brand sign is not displayed on the front of the building as it is in the film, the structure is easily identifiable as the Ghostbusters firehouse.

Suppose the firefighters from Hook & Ladder 8, who were among the first responders to the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, are available to give you a tour of the interior. In that case, you may see the collection of melted clocks and phones they’ve acquired from the different fires they’ve extinguished. Keep in mind that Hook & Ladder Company 8 is a fully operational firehouse and that you should be considerate of their space and time.

Tribeca Film Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival is one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals. The festival, which takes place in the Lower Manhattan neighborhood of Tribeca in New York City, is a well-known showcase for independent films and world premieres.

The festival will screen an array of independent films, documentaries, narratives, short films, and experimental works. It promotes music artists via live performances and provides ideas through panel discussions with prominent entertainment celebrities. Additionally, the festival recognizes award-winning filmmakers via its Artists Awards Program, in which renowned artists present competition winners with an original work of art.

Jane Rosenthal, Robert DeNiro and Craig Hatkoff founded the Tribeca Film Festival in 2002 to reinvigorate Lower Manhattan’s Tribeca area after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. The first festival attracted over 150,000 spectators and included a diverse selection of narratives and documentaries.

Museums

The Mmuseumm is New York’s tiniest museum and was renovated into a freight elevator. The exhibitions are a collection of gems from throughout the globe that depicts their way of life. In a nutshell: Minor miracles – more just cannot fit in the elevator. Although the window view is accessible 24 hours a day, this museum is only open on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 pm.

Each Friday night, attendees at Tribeca Art Factory enjoy an art event with a new excellent artist painting lives! Enjoy an open bar from 8 pm until midnight, including fantastic cocktails, wine, champagne and light nibbles. The dress code is innovative and refined. It’s reasonably priced and makes an excellent dating destination! On Friday night, try something new. It’s sure to be enjoyable! Committed local artisans sell affordable work here. Book early as this event often sells out. It is OK to ask questions and provide suggestions to the artist while they work.

Shopping

La Garçonne

This spacious store, which is the physical manifestation of one of the finest online shopping places, exudes a tranquil, “loftlike” feeling that is only surpassed by the constant supply of cutting-edge designers like Marni, A.P.C. and Jil Sander.

Best Made Company

At first sight, Best Made Co. — sellers of axes and other high-end woodsmen’s handmade products — seems out of place in this upscale neighborhood. Still, its variety of high-quality, American-made goods outweighs its dubious location.

Gloria Jewel

Megan Leary’s fourth store location — her first in the city — features modern women’s designers at a range of pricing ranges. It earns added marks for being located between Drybar and Starbucks, two establishments specializing in getting customers in and out fast if you have a few more minutes to spare.

Our Tribeca Restaurant

Homemade by Miriam just opened our Tribeca location at the beginning of 2022. We are a fast casual restaurant that serves healthy food with a Mediterranean flair. Our diverse menu contains signature dishes ranging from sandwiches, soups and salads to main course items for those looking to bring dinner home.

Tribeca is one of the most affluent areas in all of Manhattan. As a result, celebrities often reside in or own property in this neighborhood. Robert DeNiro, a Hollywood actor, even created one of Manhattan’s most famous restaurants, Tribeca Grill.

Additionally, the region is steeped in history. Take in the historic industrial structures and cobblestone streets. It’s a fairly rural area, and it’s often difficult to realize that this is one of New York City’s most popular communities for families.
